Steele is a folk-rock singer-songwriter with a hard driving rhythmic guitar, who has a powerful stage presence and a voice reminiscent of the quality of Joan Armatrading. She is an upstate New York native, and has been writing music since she was 14. After spending time traveling throughout the northeast for various jobs, Steele has now brought her gift and insight for music to whomever she comes in contact with. She has been performing sporadically as an acoustic singer-songwriter for the last five years throughout New York and Massachusetts, but only recently decided to follow her dream and pursue her music with serious intent, busking through the Boston subway system and in the busy areas in Cambridge. She is a new member of the group, “JP Unplugged,” that hosts an acoustic music series in Jamaica Plain.

Bethel Steele is a bright young artist who’s going places. This is evident in her self-released first album, Beautiful Woman.
Bethel’s songs are raw and real and heartfelt. All of her tunes are solid, with excellent guitar work and thoughtful lyrics. Still, there are some standouts worth highlighting:
The title track, Beautiful Woman, is full of love and longing and hope for a happy ending. Our Love is the perfect car ride song for a warm fall day. You can imagine an audience at an intimate jam session taking over the chorus of her catchy tune called, simply, Time. That, to me, is a mark of a good folk song.
The rest you’ll have to judge for yourself. I hope you do, and I hope you enjoy doing so as much as I did.
Bethel has been a wonderful addition to the Monday night show. She's got a genuine feel of unpretentiousness that comes out in her songs, leaving the listener with a warm feel of honesty, soul and comfort. Her delivery is solid and her songs are from the heart. Even her sweet and humble stage banter leaves you feeling that Bethel Steele is the real deal. With her passionate voice and solid delivery, Bethel is a hit!
